This is the northern end of Zermatt where the shuttle train from Täsch arrives and the Gornergrat cog railway departs. It's the most convenient corner for hauling luggage and reaching the mountains fast, though it is also the busiest and most transit-focused part of the village.
The area centres on the station forecourt, with electric taxi stands, the Gornergrat railway terminus and the start of Bahnhofstrasse all clustered here. It's practical rather than picturesque, active throughout the day with arrivals and departures and quieter once the last trains have run.
Getting around
You couldn't be closer to transport: trains from Täsch stop here and the Gornergrat line leaves from the same spot. For Zurich (ZRH), take the train to Täsch and connect via Swiss rail, roughly three to four hours total.

Yes. Being on the doorstep of the Täsch shuttle and Gornergrat railway saves time when your visit is brief.
Is it quiet at night?
Reasonably, once the trains stop, though it lacks the residential calm of the village fringes.
