In short

Ploče is the hillside stretch immediately east of the Old Town's Ploče Gate, known for some of the best views back over the sea and the medieval walls. It feels quiet and upscale, and suits couples who want scenery and calm while staying within easy walking distance of the historic core.

The area climbs the slope above the coast east of the walls, looking toward Banje Beach and the offshore island of Lokrum. Days are peaceful and evenings stay relatively low-key compared with the Old Town, with dinner-and-a-view the main draw. It's walkable to the gate, but the terrain is steep and involves stairs and inclines.

Getting around

The Old Town and its wall walk are a short, mostly downhill stroll through the Ploče Gate. For Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), taxis are the simplest option, or you can use the main bus and shuttle hub over at Pile on the other side of the walls.
