In short

Clausen is a former brewery quarter in the Alzette valley just east of the centre, now the city's main cluster of bars and clubs. It's lively and loud after dark and comparatively quiet by day, making it the natural base for visitors who want nightlife on their doorstep.

The Rives de Clausen area centres on a redeveloped brewery site packed with bars, restaurants and clubs, with the fortifications and Grund a short walk away. Expect a buzzing, crowd-heavy scene on weekend nights and a much calmer, more residential feel during the day.

Getting around

The Old Quarters are a walk or short bus ride up from the valley; national public transport is free, and Findel (LUX) is reached by connecting through the centre or station in roughly half an hour.

Frequently asked

Is Clausen only good for going out?

It's strongest for nightlife, but its valley setting near Grund and the fortifications also makes daytime walks pleasant.

Will it be too loud to sleep?

On weekend nights it can be, given the bar density, so light sleepers may prefer a base a little removed from the main strip.
