In short

San Basilio, also called Alcázar Viejo, is a traditional residential neighbourhood just west of the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos. Famous for its flower-filled courtyards during the May Patios festival, it's quieter and more local than the Judería while remaining an easy stroll to the main monuments.

The neighbourhood sits beside the Alcázar and its gardens, with the Mezquita-Catedral and Roman Bridge a short walk east. Its streets are known for the whitewashed houses and private patios that open to the public each May, giving it a calm, lived-in feel day and evening.

Getting around

The Mezquita-Catedral is roughly a 10-minute walk, and the whole old town is reachable on foot. The train and bus station is a short taxi ride north, linking to trains toward Seville (SVQ).
