In short

Neustadt sits on the right bank of the Salzach, directly across the river from the Old Town. Home to Mirabell Palace and Gardens plus plenty of restaurants, cafés and shops, it feels central yet slightly less crowded than the historic core, with bridges leading straight into it.

You're close to Mirabell Gardens, Linzergasse and the Mozart Residence, with the pedestrian bridges putting the Old Town squares just minutes away on foot. The area has a relaxed, everyday buzz — cafés and shops by day, a good spread of dining in the evening without the tourist crush of the opposite bank.

Getting around

Cross a footbridge and you're in the Old Town within 5–10 minutes; the main station is a walkable 10–15 minutes north, and W. A. Mozart Airport (SZG) is a short bus or taxi ride away.

Majestic view of Hohensalzburg Fortress overlooking Salzburg at twilight.
